The Essays

In previous editions, we have sourced and footnoted each essay directly on the calendar. However, this made the graphics messy and required a smaller font or shorter word count—neither of which we were thrilled about. That said, sourcing is important. It’s how we determine whether we can trust the information or if it might be presented through a polarized lens. Below are the sources for each of the 11 essays, along with a extra credit assignment relevant to each in case you’d like to explore further.

January 2025 - Hudson’s Department Store
