Devout Detroit, Houses of Worship Bus Tour

Since Detroit’s founding as Fort Pontchartrain Du Detroit in 1701, religion has played a massive role in shaping the architecture, alliances, and hearts of our citizens. Known the world over as “The City Of Churches” the Motor City boosts spectacular synagogues, marvelous mosques, and tranquil temples. Join Detroit History Tours as we celebrate Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck houses of worship. You’ll learn the stories of the architects who built them, the parishioners who embraced them, and the leaders who helped them thrive. This tour is not evangelical and instead will focus on the history of these magnificent spaces. Together with your Detroit History Tours guide you’ll tour the inside and outside of each building with onsite experts, enjoy a short refreshment break, and learn some of the stories of Detroit’s religious past on board the bus en route to each location. This tour is between 3.5 and 4 hours in length. Your ticket price includes the full tour, a small refreshment, plus a donation to each house of worship we will visit.
This tour will visit the following houses of worship:
- Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Byzantine Church
- Saint Aloysius Catholic Church
- Temple Beth El, Synagogue
(We will also make a little snack stop, inclusive of the price of your ticket.)
